Redbridge Rounds – Round 1
06 juin 2022

PRE MATCH BUILD UP

Mark Houston and Mark Gillies were clearly taking it seriously, practising long before Tim van Dijk and I turned up. It was a beautiful Summers Day with a gentle cooling breeze as temperatures were pushing towards the mid 20’s C.

CEREMONIAL DUTIES

Customary Team Photo (thanks to Damian Pons being on hand) before the Individual Stableford Light Hearted Competition began…on behalf of Richard & Redbridge, I thanked Mark, Mark and Tim for their past, present and future support, business and relationships which allows Redbridge to be the Trusted Recruitment Partner which it is today, where “raw talent (?) such as Botfield” is given a chance.

ADDITIONAL MANLY COMPETITIVE CHALLENGES

The two Scots decided to arrange the “game within the game” and took on Tim and Mark G in a better ball match (with pride at stake).

ONTO THE REDBRIDGE ROUND 1

The Botster started well, while Mark, yes Houston, did have a problem. Mark and Tim also found long grass trouble at the first. Mark H and Tim failed to score any points on the first hole.

But then Tim started to play, clearly relaxed after all that practice on the first hole 😊 – he was one over par for the next 8 holes. (Very well played Tim – a potential series winning score of 22pts including the first Redbridge Birdie).

His partner on the evening Mark Gillies won the Nearest the Pin (Bottle of Alice Hartmann Crement) at the third, on his way to a respectable 19 pts.

Mark H found his form when the Botster strayed from the fairways, managing a respectable 16pts, with the Botster only scoring 14pts….yet it was enough to draw the match with Tim and Mark G.

POST MATCH EVENTS

As humidity was taking over after 9 holes, the suggesting of playing “extra holes” was firmly rejected and the four amigos headed off to discuss re-hydration of a beer or three.

We discussed many things (including recruitment challenges) and only once the Worlds problems were resolved, we headed homewards, very happy, just before 11pm.

Mark H, Mark G and Tim, were all very appreciative of the relaxed and fun evening….

Monday 20th will see Damian Pons. Joost Mees and Will I AM Heath take on the Botster in Round 2.
