Redbridge Rounds – Round 2
21 juin 2022

PRE MATCH BUILD UP

Temperatures had dropped almost 20 degrees in the previous 48 hours, but it was still a beautiful evening despite the strong breeze.

CEREMONIAL DUTIES

Customary Team Photo before the Great Golf Ball Hunt began.

On behalf of Redbridge, thank you to Joost, Damian and Will for their past, present and future support.

Josst, on behalf of JTC, awarded a sleeve of Pro V 1’s to each member of the flight. Thanks Joost!

With all the subtle niceties completed….the sledging began.

ADDITIONAL MANLY COMPETITIVE CHALLENGES

The non cricketers took on the two Luxembourg resident professionals…in what was a quickly forgotten match with pride at stake.

ONTO THE REDBRIDGE ROUND 2

Will hit a “SIX” to the off boundary to start his day…splashing into the pond on the 9th…Joost hid his ball in the long grass (where it remains). Damian, perhaps unsure of the rules, lost his ball on his third shot. After the first hole, I reminded everyone that Tim started his round with a scratch, so they shouldn’t be disheartened to be 22 pts behind with 8 holes to go…

Then some impressive golf was played…Wills booming drives shooting 1 over par for the last 8 holes. Damian capping off a good late run with a magnificent birdie on the 6th and excellent pars on the tough 5th and 8th. Joost had a few bad bounces but was steady pars/bogeys mostly…

Impressive shots of the evening….Joost winning the Crement for the Nearest to the Pin (great shot), Damian hitting a great third shot from the fairway bunker on 6 setting up the birdie…Will, needing a par on the last to tie with Tim van Dijk, hitting his tee shot into the penalty area, then hit his third shot to three feet….and he made his par. Well played Will & Will played Well.

The Cricketers won the Pride match…

POST MATCH EVENTS

We saw an awful lot of long grass in the 9 holes, we deserved the refreshments at the end and managed to share a few jovial stories about our years in Luxembourg and what we have observed. Even the food was relatively good !!!

A date for the next round in the first week of July TBC!
